This picture represents my childhood growing up and how my papa is a role model in my life. My papa is a big influence in my life. When my mom had me she was still living at home with her parents and I grew up with my nana and papa always around me. Don’t get me wrong, I love my nana, but me and my papa had a special bond. When I was little my papa would always take me down to Vernies’s, the best burger joint in Hays, and we would get a huge order of onion rings on the side every day after he got off work. When we were finished with our burgers and onion rings we would walk to Cervs. This gas station was home to the famous “Sno Balls”. In the store they have every flavor of soda at your service. My papa Rich and I would always get Mountain Dew or Code Red. When I was little he would play a game with my where he would put a quarter in his hand and then ball his hand up into a fist. I would then try to pry his fingers apart so I could get the quarter; I have never been able to open it. It’s the little games that he used to play with me and that he still does play with me that makes me so close to him. My papa and I have a special connection that is bond by our humor. We are always laughing, in my family we call it the giggles when you start laughing and you can’t stop it. It doesn’t matter where we are or what we are doing, we can always make a joke out of something. Most of the time me mom and nana are yelling at us to quite down. I talk to my papa at least every other day, he always checks up on me, a lot of the time we just call to see how the other is doing. I try to call him and my nana a lot because you never really know when someone in your life is going to be gone. I look up to my papa because he and my nana have been together since they were in their 20’s. When I look at their relationship I want my future to be like that. He also shows me that hard work will pay off in the end and that slacking off will get you nowhere. My papa is the definition of the kind of person I want to be when I grow up and I think he knows that. In my opinion I think that’s why we have such a close bond. If anyone wanted to know what kind of person I am they would just need to meet my papa and everything would be explained. Even though we live in two different states my mom says that I act like him all the time.

This is such a wonderful tribute, Morgan. I'm so glad you keep in touch with your Papa and realize the need to do so. I miss my grandparents so much and I wish now I had spent more time with them as I got older, like I did when I was a little girl. Sounds like you have such a fun relationship and that you both are better for it. I hope you find the same kind of long-lasting love story your grandparents share. I feel like I have...Thanks for sharing this. Sweet picture...
