Writers as Readers

#1 When I am reading something I like to be in a warm and cozy environment. I like to have a little background noise on, so I normally turn the TV on, but have the volume down low. I also need a light snack. I prefer having a 6 inch Subway sandwich with me, but if that is not available I settle for some cookies or chips. To keep me warm and cozy I always have my blue and orange puffy blanket. The lighting in the room as to be completely on. I do not like reading I dim light, it strains my eyes and I get headaches. I also enjoy reading in the car. Reading in the car passes time and while reading in there I always have my blanket and a snack to go along with it.

#2 The genre that I am interested in is a total cliché. I am interested in dramatic romance novels, just like most teenage girls. I like the personal connection that I feel with the characters and that I can relate to what most of the characters are going through. I am drawn to these books because I like the mushy gushy romantic setting and I like getting to the end of the book and finding out if the couple lasts o if the conflict of the story tears them apart.

#9 When I finished reading Everyone Sees Ants, I was sad because the main character, Lucky, doesn’t end up bringing his grandfather back from the war.

When I finished reading Bitter End, I was angry afterwards because I didn’t know that the book was a part of a series, so when I got to the end of the book it left me hanging. I got really angry afterwards to find out the second book in the series hasn’t come out yet. By the time the second book comes out I will probably have forgotten about it, so I won’t ever get to finish the story,

When I finished reading All the Things I’ve done, I was happy because the story was really good and the book had a lot of action in it. The ending of the book in my opinion was the perfect ending for it. That is what made me so happy; when I read a book and it has a good ending.

#7 The first book I remember was a part of the Junie B. Jones series. These books were my life when I first started reading. I had every single book that ever came out. The very first book I read of hers was Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus. This book got me interested in reading because I had found out how exciting reading could be. It showed me that when you find the right book you can get lost in it and think you are the actual character.

#5 I have picked up a book and been excited to turn the next page. This book was actually a part of a series. This book was called Perfect Chemistry.  This series also had two other books Rules of Attraction and Chain Reaction. I read this first book in a car ride on my way to Kansas City, by the time we got there I had finished the first book and I wanted more. I made my mom stop at a Barnes and Noble so I could purchase the next two. This series was full of romance, mystery, and action. The way the author told the story is what kept me so intrigued.

  1. I wish I could read in the car--it always makes me feel sick. Like you, though, I prefer a little background music and a snack. I have been in the same situation you describe where you get into a series on a trip and have to make a stop to buy the next book. That happened to me with Twilight several years ago on Spring Break and I couldn't find the second one anywhere! Frustrating! :)
